Ahh a topic that we can go back and forth, round and round with! Some adamantly say that wealthy drivers get away with traffic violations on the road more than regular drivers, and some feel that luxury and exotic car drivers are unfairly targeted. What do you think?
I can understand both sides I suppose. Some accuse the wealthy of being able to ‘bribe’ themselves out of trouble, while others insist police intentionally target exotic cars on the roadways. Still others take it a step further and claim that a Lamborghini, Porsche or other luxury car with out of state plates will be a target.
While there is no scientific proof either way, there was a study conducted by LeaseTrader that showed drivers of luxury cars feel they will be ticketed at a higher rate than regular drivers. The rest of the study wa
s interesting, showing results from 2,000 drivers broken into 4 categories: Economy car drivers, midsize, SUVs, and luxury cars (like Mercedes M Class or BMW 7-Series). I wonder if any luxury car rental drivers were polled!
In the survey, 63% of luxury drivers felt they would get popped with a ticket if they dared go even 10 miles over the speed limit, compared with 46% of the midsize drivers, 41% of the SUV drivers and 28% of the economy sized car drivers.
A full 62% of luxury car drivers thought they would definitely get a ticket by running a red light, and only 16% of economy drivers felt that way.
The survey interested me most in the area of parking. Most luxury car drivers felt they would not receive a parking ticket, compared to 21% of SUV drivers. Does this communicate a sense of entitlement? What do you think about the topic? Leave comments below.

Some cars are just a bit “not my style”, and then there are the ones that are just plain ugly! Here are our top 10 contestants for ugliest cars in recent history!
1. Pontiac Aztek (all models)
2. Ford Tempo (all models)
3. 1975 AMC Pacer
4. 1985 Yugo GV
5. 1974 AMC Matador X coupe
6. 1980 Chevy Citation
7. 1981 AMC Eagle wagon
8. 1981 Dodge Aries
9. Chevy Celebrity (all models)
10. 2000 Toyota Echo coupe
The Pontiac Aztek was created to appeal to the new-wave granola SUV types, and failed miserably. This bulky box on wheels lacks a single attractive feature, and may have been spewed forth from a busted-up tanker and coated with cheap plastic. No thanks Pontiac.

When Ford unleashed its ‘Tempo’ model, it was clearly confused. This vehicle is not much more sophisticated than a child’s car, and likely costs just a bit more. Unless it was simply to cater to a low-income market, I cannot understand how this ever made it to production. I had to borrow my grandmother’s Ford Tempo the other week while visiting her, and once I got it up to 60 miles per hour (which took forever), the sucker broke down and left me stranded on a highway. Suck it, Ford
The 1975 AMC Pacer is the epitome of the mini-hatchback gone oh-so-wrong. From the ugly bumper, unattractive body design, all the way to the cheap ass rims, this is AMC-A major catastrophe. Did it only come in mustard yellow or string-bean green? I can see Kitty Foreman from ‘That 70s Show’ taking this little eyesore out for groceries
The 1985 Yugo GV comes to mind. The 85 Yugo resembles a washing machine with wheels, and the grill appears to be plastic. This is the definition of a no-budget car, and may be what Geo used to inspire its Metro. Can you picture this as a luxury car rental? Ha.
The 1974 Matador X coupe looks like a number of 70’s style automobiles. Simple design, cheap feel, overall unimpressive. I can picture a dude with sideburns, aviator shades and bellbottoms leaning against the side, searching for his pride as his date bolts.
Who cares if it was America’s first front wheel drive compact car; the Chevrolet Citation is one ugly machine. It just squeals, “I have no style or sophistication, and likely no job”. And it is too fat for its wheels. There. I said it.
The 1981 AMC Eagle wagon looks like it belongs in a chop-shop, like it was initially an experiment gone awry, then accidentally replicated. Joe Dirt called, he wants his wheels back. Did Eagle every make anything attractive?
1981 must have been a bad year for automakers, it seems all the designers had quit. The 1981 Dodge Aries is another fabulous example of one ugly car. It looks like someone drew a rectangle, added wheels and headlights and called it a day. There are literally no defining features on this car, but if you lean in real close, you can hear its desolate whisper, “Please destroy me”.
Chevrolet gets another one, with its Chevy Celebrity cars. Chevy obviously has a well-developed sense of humor for naming it “Celebrity”, and these boxes are not too different from the Dodge Aries. I think they gave them away, as I used to see many of them on the roadways as a child, full of rust spots.
Finally, the 2000 Toyota Echo coupe. What is under the hood is not being debated; it is simply that you must look at the exterior. And no one should ever have to do that.
Let's compare notes, please add your favorite ugly cars in the comment section below!
If you have or had one of these cars it may be time to try out a luxury car and see the difference. Don't worry if you cannot afford an expensive car becuase you can try one for a day with a luxury rental car. I am sure after you day is over with a luxury car you will see the error in your ways.

I have covered police issued supercars in the past, but it is typically a special car per force. In Seoul, Korea, the crime fighters can brag about having not just a supercar, but three impressive supercars at their disposal!
And what luxury supercars exactly do they have on their force? A Ferrari F360, a Porsche 911 and a Lamborghini Gallardo. That is an exotic arsenal at its finest, I will consider them Seoul’s finest. So why does Seoul need such a sophisticated fleet of luxury patrol cars to take out the indigenous Daewoos, Kias and Rickshaws?
I like to think it is an intimidation tactic. The poor souls of Seoul gripping the wheel of their four-cylinder Euro-style autos know damn well they have zero chance of escape once they sink there eyes into a Ferrari with tacky police lights fixed to the top.
I can almost picture them cranking up the A/C in efforts to calm down, beads of sweat forming on their brows. Offending motorists may as well hang their heads and admit instant defeat while that A/C sucks the last of the power from their diminutive daily drivers.
I also have an inkling that the police officers behind the wheels of these luxury cop cars are in high demand by the ladies (and gents should their be a female officer on the force). I know if I were pulled over, I would roll out the red carpet and likely want a photo op, although I am not certain how well that would go over with the officer on duty.
While they are top of the line luxury cars, there is certainly no mistaking their purpose, as the law enforcement paint jobs are apparent a mile away! These exotic cars take officers from cop to badass, in approximately 3.5 seconds.

Luxury Rental of the Week: Range Rover Sport Supercharged
The Range Rover Sport Supercharged luxury rental car is the epitome of a luxury SUV. However, it has something most luxury SUV’s don’t have: Raw speed. It’s not just the drastic difference in horsepower; it’s the torque, and shift timing. Land Rover has truly found the perfect combination of muscle and elegance with this vehicle. The 4-wheel drive is sensitive and will easily handle Chicago weather when it gets ugly.
The Range Rover Sport Supercharged is very similar in looks to the standard Range Rover; with a few little tweaks. The front grill and side gills are chromed out and have a mesh netting underneath. The exhaust is upgraded, there are larger 20’ sport wheels, and the small rear plate saying, “Supercharged” lets you know you are driving the premium version. The Harmon/Kardon stereo system provides a rich and powerful sound experience, and the 3-D Satellite Navigation system, Sirius Satellite radio, Bluetooth compatibility, and dual climate control offer lavish conveniences.
It’s time to experience the Range Rover Sport Supercharged luxury SUV rental. If you don’t already have your own, you need to rent one to find out more about what this Range Rover rental has to offer. This weekend only, August 6-9th, this luxury rental SUV will be available for only $449 per day. Contact Imagine Lifestyles today to take advantage of this opportunity and all of your luxury rental needs. We look forward to assisting you with all of your luxury needs in the greater Chicagoland area.

Porsche Announces Production Plans for Hybrid 918 Spyder
Want to own Porsche’s most expensive car ever built and feel like you are helping the environment at the same time? If so, better have some connections within Porsche to get your name on the waiting list as soon as possible. Originally just a concept car, executives at Porsche agreed to put the car into production if at least 1,000 people signed declarations of interest to purchase. Luckily for all car lovers, over 2,000 people signed up and now all we can do is wait.
With an insanely impressive 0-60 time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 198, it might be hard to convince your friends that your new baby is truly a hybrid. However, the car will be powered by a combination of an engine and an electric motor. The V8 engine will do most of the dirty work, but the pair of electric motors will put out an impressive 200bhp with the engine carrying the remaining 500bhp. The car will be able to travel up to 16 miles on battery power alone and will use roughly five gallons of gas per 100 miles driven.
Still think hybrid cars are for hippies and soccer moms? All of us at Imagine Lifestyles seem to think Porsche might slowly be changing our perceptions of hybrids altogether with their latest creation. Although the 918 will essentially be replacing the infamous Carrera GT, we think in this case that change is good. Since you cannot drive the new 918 just yet, contact us today to rent one of our exotic rental cars before summer comes to an end. We have an impressive collection of Porsches that are just waiting to be appreciated by new clients.
Hopefully we will have this new porsche in our fleet of Chicago exotic car rentals and Miami Luxury rental cars.

I think I have discovered the most expensive round of golf in the world! It seems that Barbados attracts more than those seeking the sand, sun and surf-it also beckons to golf lovers. For $2,300 per game, yo
u could consider golf a luxury sport on this swanky island!
So how do they charge so much for 9 holes? Well, the actual fee for a round of golf at one of Sandy Lane resort’s three courses, the Green Monkey, the Old Nine and the Country Club is $300.
The extra bump comes into play when you factor in the fact that in order to play, you must be staying at the resort. So those wishing to play a round of golf must then shell out $2,000 for a room at the resort. If you are asking yourself if there are cheaper rooms, $2,000 is the least expensive accommodation available. Ouchies.
The three luxury golf courses were designed by Tom Fazio, if that helps to ease the pain. Yes, to play on this green, you will hand over your green.
I think you must really have to love golf, or have a ridiculous expense account to pay $2,3000 for a game of golf. For that price, you could enjoy a Ferrari rental, Lamborghini rental, or just about any luxury car rental for an entire day, not just a mere few hours! Well, I suppose they do get to indulge in the luxury hotel for the night, so there is a perk when you consider all of the lavish amenities offered at Sandy Lane.
What are the most expensive golf courses you have played on? Comment below!

This Week in Chicago: Lollapalooza Aug 6-8 2010 Grant Park
Think Woodstock, but substitute rain and farmland for 100-degree temperatures and downtown Chicago and you will have a pretty good idea what Lollapalooza is all about. For 3 days this weekend, 8 stages will overtake Grant Park as over 120 bands bring their musical talents to the Windy City. Headlining this year will be Green Day, Lady Gaga, and Soundgarden.
Festival and music fans alike interested in going have the option of buying single day tickets or the 3-day weekend pass. Lolla offers up a whole lot more than just music as well and this year is really stepping it up with the food selections they are offering on festival grounds. This year, there will be two different food courts, also known as Chow Towns, on the north and south end of the grounds. 25 new restaurants have been added on to the already impressive foodie lineup from last year.
Tickets for this year’s festival are still circulating around the city and Imagine Lifestyles Chicago would highly recommend all music fans do anything they can to make it out to this year’s festival. It seems that every summer Lollapalooza comes and goes it continues to be one of the summers’ most popular weekends. Don’t miss out this time around make sure to lock up your Lolla tickets before it is too late. Based on our past experiences, after you grab your tickets, check the weather forecast and pray for clouds and cool temps.
If you want to show up in style at Lollapalooza check out our Chicago exotic car rentals.

The Terrafugia Transition is the closest thing to a flying car that has been created to date. There is no end to the awesomeness of this idea, a vehicle that is equal parts plane and you know, car. Seriously.
Terrafugia is a startup firm, and they have been developing and tweaking the Transition (fitting name) since 2006. This startup was founded by a group of MIT engineers who seem to have an affinity for the aerial. Basically, Transition is a light, single-engine plane capable of folding its wings, with a substantial four-wheeled undercarriage allowing it to be a car. One word: Beast.
So why did it require an exemption from the feds? While the Transition was designed to fit within the 1320 lb confines of the “light sport” aircraft qualifications, it became difficult to fit mandatory road-safety features like airbags, crumple zones and a structural cage around passengers while still adhering to the weight limit.

The feds sportingly provided an exemption that gives the Transition an extra 110 pounds of leeway, while still qualifying as a light-sport plane. Why is this important?
Because in the U.S a light sport pilot’s license is easy to obtain, requiring a mere 20 hours logged. It is a way to cut through the red tape. And it is a flying luxury car. Take that Ferrari!
This really is an amazing vehicle, but I am having scary images of idiots crashing mid-air. Yet,imagine the possibilities! With the wings folded the Transition can be driven at normal highway speeds. Imagine bypassing the hassles of commercial airports and their ridiculously ineffective “security measures”. As a frequent traveler, I must say that this is right up there with the luxury of aircraft charters! Just drive the Transition into any airport, and it can hit the skies with a cruising speed of 115 miles per hour.
Wherever there is a new way to travel, there will be a new fee, and I foresee airports charging just as much as a plane ticket to use their runways. What is next, a private runway and flying car per household?
According to reports, 70 Transitions have been ordered, and deposits are in escrow, so refunds are safe in the event Terrafugia should hit a roadblock with their awesome idea.
Our fleet of luxury car rentals do not fly, but our private aircraft charters do, check out both on your way out!

Dear Imagine Lifestyles,
I am coming into Chicago the first weekend in September for my younger sister’s bachelorette party and am in need of some major help. I have never been to Chicago before so I am completely unaware of where to eat, sleep, and party. Please help!
Thank You,
Anna, Baltimore
Dear Anna,
Relax Anna; you have come to the right place for everything you are looking for. We will gladly set up everything for the party, starting with a hotel and finishing with dinner reservations, club reservations, and your own private party bus to use all day long. Chicago is truly one of the greatest cities for hosting these types of events and we can guarantee this party will be something for your sister to remember for a lifetime.
For starters, we would recommend a few rooms at the Elysian Hotel located at 11 E. Walton in the heart of downtown Chicago. In a city known for world-class hotel accommodations, the Elysian is always at or near the top of everyone’s best hotel list. Make sure to upgrade your sister to the deluxe suite, which will give her a private terrace right off of the living room. Once you all get settled in at the hotel and have taken care of all the gift openings and enjoyed a few bottles of champagne, it will be time to head out for dinner.
It is so hard to pick just one restaurant to eat at while you are here so make sure and come back to visit soon. However, for the purposes of your inquiry Imagine Lifestyles would suggest your group head to Epic for dinner. Depending on your group size, Epic has 3 different areas that are also available for private rentals. With top-notch food and even better cocktails, we guarantee the whole group will love this river-north spot. After dinner, make sure to head up to Epic Sky for a drink on the newly opened rooftop. We saved the best for last too because now it is time to head to the club.
Once again, it is extremely hard to pick just one club to visit while you are here in Chicago. We could easily suggest a number of places that would be perfect for any bachelor or bachelorette party. After dinner, head to 308 W. Erie and make your way down the private back alley entrance to one of Chicago’s hottest weekend spots, Cuvee. Dance the night away with a few more bottles of Champagne and cap the night off in style.
Imagine Lifestyles can gladly accommodate all of the planning for this party and specializes in making the planning process effortless for all of our clients. On top of everything mentioned above, we can also provide you with your own luxury party bus that will provide transportation for the whole group throughout the weekend. Thanks again for the great question Anna, feel free to get in touch with us as soon as you are ready to make all of your reservations for the bachelorette party.
Sincerely,
Imagine Lifestyles
