Young Chap Crashes His Lamborghini and Bentley In the Same Day

A perhaps new-to-the-game exotic car owner suffered the misfortune of crashing both his beloved Bentley and Lamborghini on the very same day! Reports read that the owner, 21-year-old Elijah Oyefeso, merely laughed-off the double exotic car crash…but we all know he must have wept silently into his car-shaped pillow later that night.

Elijah is said to be a young city trader doing rather well for himself—well enough to acquire and crash pricey exotic cars with nary a care. The clip above provides many angles of the damage to both vehicles.

So what exactly happened? It seems that both of the cars were crashed into one another near a supermarket parking lot in Essex during a Sunday morning joy ride. Elijah allowed a pal to drive the Bentley while he piloted the Lamborghini, because we all know that the Lambo is not going to carry home very many grocery items. The friend proceeded to rear-end the Lamborghini from behind the wheel of the Bentley, resulting in a bill much higher than the expected fuel costs of taking the toys out to play.

Elijah is quoted in the Mail Online as follows: “I don’t know at what point the crash happened. It was just the next thing I know he’s gone into the back of me. I don’t remember what happened. Afterwards I just started laughing. Life goes on, you know.” Spoken like a true rookie.

In the end, the young entrepreneur shared that it seems one of the two supercars, the Lamborghini, can be salvaged. Insurance is stepping up to cover the remaining pain with replacing the destroyed Bentley. It would be interesting to hear if the youngster has learned a perhaps valuable lesson, or if he would be willing to allow friends to drive his expensive machines in the future. After all, not everyone is in possession of the skills required to pilot such automobiles—or the bank accounts to sustain them!

Range Rover SVAutobiography Leads the Lineup

The Range Rover SVAutobiography is writing the brand’s next chapter on power and prestige. The model emerged at the 2015 New York International Auto Show where it made the announcement that it would outdo its siblings in both the luxury trim and performance arenas.

Range Rover SVAutobiographyThe Range Rover SVAutobiography will replace the Range Rover Autobiography Black, but buyers should not be sad to see her go with so many new options and ponies. Those seeking some of the underling Land Rover products need not fret—the new technology will also serve those models in the future. Next-gen Range Rover changes will of course include both aesthetics and power, with the typical line in order of power and trim packages.

Range Rover SVAutobiography

  • Special Vehicle Operations Technical Centre developed some exclusive features for the brand for the Range Rover SVAutobiography and upcoming models.
  • Tweaks and changes of previous technology will carry over to the entire fleet, ensuring that none get left in the dark ages.
  • The SVAutobiography gets a healthy 5.0-liter V8 supercharged engine and will clearly serve as the range-topper.
  • It will engage drivers with start-stop surround and rotary controls crafted from solid aluminum with gorgeous detailing. Nifty aluminum coat hooks will be in the rear for the business types.
Range Rover SVAutobiography

The Range Rover SVAutobiography will be made available in standard and long wheelbase variants for the 2016 model year. Is Maserati the New Fiat Flagship?

Now that Ferrari is to become a bit separated from the rest of the family at Fiat, will luxury brand Maserati become the new flagship? Just last year Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne announced that the prestigious Ferrari brand would be spun off into its own sort-of entity in order to receive healthier gains for the company overall. What that means is that the majority of Ferrari shares remain with FCA, but now others have the ability to purchase stakes for the first time ever.

MaseratiWith Ferrari in it’s own  cozy stable, does that make Maserati the new kingpin? According to some sources, Fiat is now grooming Maserati to become even more of a marquee than it already is, which would make it the Fiat front runner. Marchionne stated that Maserati is to become “the most coveted, exclusive brand that we have.”

To some this plan poses a bit of an issue, seeing as how Maserati currently only offers 3 models: the Ghibli, the Quattroporte and the Gran Turismo. Does this mean that Maserati intends to expand their portfolio with items like an SUV and a higher performance coupe and sedan offering in order to compete? With much competition to entice BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi customers, it could be a more sound move for Maserati to align its ambitions to compete with Bentley or Rolls-Royce. Overall, major brands are clearly providing more options in their lineups than ever before, with hybrid and electric offerings, eco-friendly little luxury SUVs and more, which will make it essential for Maserati to emerge from their standard approach of crafting a couple of flagships and relying on that adorable little logo. Fiat did not become such a powerhouse by accident, however, so they likely have quite the ace up their sleeve for the future of Maserati.

Fiat brandsFerrari leaves quite the horse shoes for Maserati to fill!

Unbelievable: LaFerrari Posted For Sale With Interesting Asking Price

The Prancing Horse made it nearly impossible to become a proud parent of the fierce LaFerrari hybrid when it was born. Now it seems that at least one of the owners has a short attention span and is already willing to part with their LaFerrari. There have been others in the chosen 499, but this one stands out in the crowd based on asking price alone.

LaFerrariThe Laferrari has proven that she looks good in any color–though the one for sale in this instance is black. Shown above in signature Ferrari red.

There were murmurings of legal verbiage in the buyer’s contract forbidding the resale of a LaFerrari for profit within a certain period of time. That period of time must have passed because this seller is asking for a shocking and fairly obscene $5 million dollars for the car. That is correct, they want an additional $4 million over the sticker price for a used one. It does sound insane, but with the comfort that this is a supercar that will almost certainly retain value and end up being worth far more, someone may wish to invest. It will likely take a decade or more for LaFerrari to be worth that staggering sum, and a few others for sale for similar amounts will likely fail to make that the new going rate.

What are they thinking?

When LaFerrari emerged, the brand made it very clear that potential buyers would be screened and must meet strict criteria in order to place an order and be permitted to purchase. For example, a potential candidate must already own a certain number of other Ferrari cars to show that they are a collector of the brand, because LaFerrari was crafted exclusively for the brand’s most valued clientele. For that reason, some buyers likely feel that they can now charge whatever they please for their cars.

The LaFerrari is said to be offered at Naples Motorsports with just 202 miles on her and is currently the only one available in the Untied States.

Prototype Electric Aston Martin Aims to Challenge With 1000 Horses

Is Aston Martin busy engineering a radical electric beast capable of churning forth 1000 horsepower? Word is circulating that an electric Aston Martin with four doors and a serious need for speed could be approved for a 2020 production run.

electric Aston MartinThe electric version could look like the Rapide, according to Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer.

The official word on the electric Aston Martin supercar has not been given, so this information is all speculation that began to take shape on the heels of the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer gave sparse details about a special prototype engineers are tweaking in order to achieve a 50/50 weight distribution level with the addition of batteries.

electric Aston MartinThe Aston Martin Cygnet was the butt of many jokes when it emerged. It came out just before a general wave of acceptance for smarter cars hit the planet, leaving some to wonder if it would fare better on today’s market. Anyone who has ever attempted to park in Philadelphia would understand the Cygnet’s unique size appeal!

Aston Martin is not a virgin to the smartcar movement–think way back to its little contribution: The diminutive Aston Martin Cygnet and it’s 1.0-liter engine tickling 89 horses. The tiny Cygnet seemed to emerge before its time, and before words like smartcar, hybrid or electric held much clout on the market and were often met with smirks. Few are smirking at alternative powertrains these days, with the LaFerrari and Porsche 918 showing that things have evolved even from the amazing Fisker Karma. It also helps that Palmer is a supporter of the hybrid movement, making the following statement on the matter:

“On my watch we are never going to put a diesel in an Aston. And I don’t think the Cygnet was the right thing to do. I think something like an electric car would be interesting, to sit squarely above a Tesla. Most people who buy Teslas are buying fully loaded ones, so it implies there’s room for that. I’m a great advocate of electric vehicles, not for fuel economy, but for performance. We are working on a car that would look like a four-wheel-drive, 1,000bhp Rapide. There is a prototype running around. It’s not a formal part of our six-year plan but it might have to become part of it if we have a regulatory issue.”

Palmer stating that he is for performance above fuel economy is a strong indication that even an electric Aston Martin is going to be quite fabulous!

Extreme Collection Hitting RM Sotheby’s Auction Block Soon

Luxury auction house RM Sotheby’s has proven to be quite the powerhouse–and they are continuing to dazzle in fashion with one of the most extensive and exciting automobile auctions looming on the horizon. Not only are the usual rare and notable vehicles lined up for action, but also the first and last Bugatti Veyron units will be sold at the same event!

The Pinnacle Portfolio will hit the RM Sotheby’s auction block on August 13th, 2015. By the time the final hammer lands, over $65 million dollars may have changed hands as well as both the first and last Bugatti Veyron models ever made. The clip above shows some of the inventory–prepare for feelings of intense envy.

The upcoming RM Sotheby’s auction is the collection of a single anonymous individual and it is valued at around the $65 million dollar mark and includes roughly 25-30 vehicles.  The sale is so illustrious that it has even been given a name: The Pinnacle Portfolio. I suppose that a collector prolific enough to own both the first and final Bugatti Veyrons to roll off of the production line must have exquisite tastes and that this sale will get engines running and leave bank accounts vastly depleted. The first is 2006 Veyron with chassis #001 and the other is chassis #300. While the last Bugatti Veyron is the official number 300, it is not the Bugatti Veyron LaFinale special edition car, to avoid any confusion. The original production run of 300 omits some if not all of the special edition collections and cars.

RM Sotheby's

Aside from the notoriety of the Bugatti Veyron units, there will be other flashy contenders like the following cars:

  • The last Ferrari Enzo built: A 2005 model gifted by Ferrari to Pope John Paul II
  • A 2008 Koenigsegg CCXR that had a role in the Fast & Furious 5 movie
  • 1995 Ferrari F50
  • 2008 Lamborghini Reventon
  • 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Alloy Gullwing
  • 2005 Saleen S7 Twin Turbo
  • Many more: Follow link to view the entire collection

RM Sotheby's

Will over $65 million dollars change hands at the Pinnacle Portfolio sale at RM Sotheby’s this August? With the extensive collection and unbelievable cars, that figure seems very likely to be surpassed.

Porsche 919 Sold On Ebay Did Not Even Have An Engine

The Porsche 919 is so well-loved that people will spend top dollar to have one…even without an engine. Porsche sold a 919 on Ebay recently for $106k that completely lacked the hybrid engine, but rather, included the appropriate measures to be mounted to a wall.

Porsche 919Is this the little engine that couldn’t even? Not so fast. The Porsche 919 model is such an enormous sensation that people will drop over $100k just to own the shell.

The Porsche 919 body was listed on the popular sales website as a non-functional unit and proceeds went to benefit Singapore’s SportCares Foundation, which is a focused movement using sport as a force for social good. The company describes it in the ad as a 1:1 Model Car chassis, whatever that means. Without a drivetrain, the supercar will make but a splendid art display for some lucky petrol head out there.

The Porsche 919 is a purpose driven vehicle that is absolutely not available on the market. It possesses a hybrid 2.0-liter V4 strapped with some electric acoustics and is only available for use by the official racing teams of Porsche. The specialized system converts some of the 500 horses into electric energy even while braking. Many make the mistake of confusing her with the Porsche 918 spyder, which is not correct.

Porsche 919The racing livery on the wall mount Porsche 919 reads: “Porsche Intelligent Performance”. It could be the world’s most expensive Porsche nightlight, because the lamps are said to function when plugged into a power source. So there is someone out there admiring their 919 art and contemplating which fleet vehicle to take out next, but you can always rent a Porsche from your friends at Imagine Lifestyles for a far less painful sum!

Confirmed: Lotus Evora 400 Convertible Coming

It seems that the fabled Lotus Evora 400 convertible may become a reality with new CEO Jean-Marc Gales at the wheel. The company has confirmed that the Lotus Evora 400 will be offered as a convertible as early as next summer. There should not be a dramatic difference in feel or performance between the two options, and Lotus is making every effort to ensure that the convertible is quite effortless to operate.

Lotus Evora 400 convertiblePhotos ©Lotus

The coupe version of the Lotus Evora 400 will be hitting showrooms sometime this year as a 2017 model year starting at around $90k. The topless sibling will arrive a few months behind her and likely have a higher price tag. The convertible’s design will still allow for rear seating via a folding top and removable panels that stow behind the rear seats. For those concerned with playing Tetris with the panels, they are said to be just 6 pounds each for ease of use.

The 2017 Louts Evora 400 at a glance:

  • The chassis is aluminum
  • Very little structural engineering is needed to revamp the model into a convertible, and the performance specifications will be fairly close
  • The standard Evora 400 packs a 3.5-liter V6 engine delivering 400 healthy horses, hence the 400 included in the name
  • The Evora 400 hits the 0-60 mile per hour sprint in 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 186 miles per hour
  • It is the fastest and most powerful production Lotus ever. With specs like this, even if the topless version is a touch slower, one must ask: Does it matter? Not really.

Lotus Evora 400 convertibleLook for the new convertible Lotus Evora 400 to hit showrooms and to make an even larger splash on the interwebs just prior to release.

Fans of Range Rover diesel products stateside can look forward to finally having the option to buy. The 2016 Range Rover diesel sport models are slated for sales in the U.S. as well as overseas. The products will be arranged in the expected pricing ranges, with base models, sport models and various trim package items to choose from.

At long last, Land Rover will be selling the diesel Range Rover products in the U.S. The clip above outlines what to expect from the lineup.

Land Rover made the official announcement at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show that it was going to extend sales for some diesel models to the states. Those models include the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, labeled as Td6. Both luxury SUVs will be packing the same 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 engine kicking out 254 horses. If that is simply not enough, the frontrunner will be the 340-horsepower Range Rover Sport SE Td6 for around $68k. The largest model, the regular Range Rover diesel Td6 starts at $87,445. Start to customize and add trim packages and that price quickly approaches the $100k marker. Fans of the brand know that they are worth the money.

For comparison purposes, the standard gasoline fueled Range Rover is also equipped with a V6 and produces 340 horsepower. Aston Martin Vulcan Will Boast 24 Limited Edition Cars

This year luxury carmaker Aston Martin announced the arrival of its response to the multi-million dollar supercar competition that has been escalating: The $2.3 million dollar Aston Martin Vulcan. The track focused Vulcan is so intense and aggressive that the brand requires that drivers be specially trained to operate it in order to, you know, stay alive.

Aston Martin Vulcan

The Aston Martin Vulcan hypercar is in direct competition with other multi-million dollar rides and will likely hold her own.

Because the throaty Aston Martin Vulcan is not exactly ready at this stage in the development funnel, buyers are being trained on lesser models like the Aston Martin V12 Vantage S. The Vantage S is sibling to the rare One-77, featuring its mostly carbon fiber frame tub and full FIA specification roll cage. Just 24 Aston Martin Vulcan cars will be produced, bringing in approximately $56 million for the company. Because it is likely that all units will be presold, it will make a fine payday, indeed!

Aston Martin VulcanWhat sets the multi-million dollar Aston Martin Vulcan apart from other cars in its class? While the exact specifications are still being perfected, we can anticipate a naturally aspirated 7-liter V12 engine pushing forth around 800 horses capable of demolishing the 0-60 mile per hour destination in less than 3 seconds. Top speed for the Aston Martin Vulcan will likely exceed the standard 200 mile per hour mark, which has become the seemingly unspoken goal for supercars. Aston Martin has also shared that the Vulcan will feature track-derived pushrod suspension complete with anti-dive geometry and driver-adjustable anti-lock brakes with available traction.

Aston Martin VulcanWill the Vulcan provide creature comforts for coddling? Not likely, but neither does the immensely successful $3.3 million dollar LaFerrari and she is faring well!
