Ettore Bugatti, an Italian man described as an eccentric genius, founded Bugatti high performance vehichles in 1906. The original company is legendary for some of the most exclusive and fastest cars in the world. The original Bugatti brand failed like many marques did at the beginning of World War 2, and the death of Ettore’s son, Jean, was also a contributing factor. The company struggled financially into the 1960s eventually being purchased for its airplane parts business. Today the name is owned by Volkswagen AG who revived the brand as a builder of very limited production sports cars.

The value of the rare 1938 Bugatti is estimated at around $40 million dollars and is one of just three examples in existence.
