So sad! It seems that sales for the Aston Martin Cygnet have sagged far below expectation. While there is a high demand for the personality-packed mini-cars, they simply are not being produced fast enough to fill orders.

Aston Martin intended to unload 20,000 Cygnets annually, but supply issues are challenging that endeavor. Just like other Aston Martin luxury cars, the Cygnet body and interior are hand-crafted and that is time consuming. The wait time between order placement and delivery is frankly turning customers off to the car.
The Aston Martin Cygnet city car hit the market just this year with a starting price of $32,000, making it appealing to several markets. The city car is currently restricted to European markets, with Cygnet stores opening in London and Park Lane in the UK.

Interestingly, the electric Toyota iQ will emerge in 2012 rebranded as a Cygnet and will serve as Aston’s initial entry into the electric auto market.
