     The Maserati Quattroporte is a four-door luxury sedan with a very sporty feel. The Quattroporte is comparable in size to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, however, its characteristics make it more comparable to the Jaguar XJR.  Maserati first debuted the Quattroporte with a DuoSelect automated transmission. DuoSelect is a manual transmission with a computer controlled clutch and paddle shifters, somewhat like BMW's SMG system.  DuoSelect transmission is optimal at high speeds but some find it to be jerky at low speeds, therefore, for 2007 Maserati began to offer regular automatic transmission. The Quattroporte "Automatica" model has optional paddle shifters which give it similar functionality to the DuoSelect version. The engine is a 4.2 liter V8 which puts out 394 horsepower at 7000 rpm.
         The Maserati Quattroporte comes in three trim levels: the basic configuration, the Sport GT, and the Executive GT. The Executive GT being the highest end, with 19-inch wheels, chrome grille and side vents, Alcantara suede and wood trim interiors. Plus the Executive GT has ventilated heated and cooled seats, massaging rear seats, retractable wood tables in the rear, and curtain shades on the windows.
