The Maserati GranTurismo is a two-door sports car that was launched about a year ago. For the 2009 model year Maserati has introduced the performance-tuned GranTurismo S. The S version has a 4.7 liter V8 engine as opposed to the base GranTurismo 4.2 liter. Improved output of 433 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and an advanced MC-Shift dual clutch transmission replaced the ZF six-speed automatic. The result is a higher top speed of 183 mph which, up from 177 mph. Plus, quicker acceleration, the GT S does zero to 60 in 4.93 seconds which is three-tenths of a second quicker than the base.
The Maserati GT S has been outfitted with new Brembo brakes, with high fade resistance. The break system has front brake discs made with dual-cast technology, iron and aluminum have been paired for better weight, heat transfer properties, and squeezed by aluminum mono-bloc 6-piston calipers. This means the GT S does a complete stop from 62 mph in less than 115 feet. The Maserati GranTurismo comes standard with 20-inch wheels, as opposed to the GT bases’s 19-inch wheels.
The inside of the GT S is upholstered in Poltrona Frau Leather and Alcantara for added luxury. The base price for the GranTurismo S Coupe is $135,000. Whichever version of the Maserati GranTurismo is a smart decision because being behind the wheel of a Maserati is a statement in itself. If you don't believe it then try renting a Maserati exotic for yourself.
