The theft of John Travolta’s 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL has been solved (follow link for original story), leading to the arrest of two men, DL Reyford and Michael T. Green. The vintage car was stolen in September of 2011 while Travolta briefly visited a Jaguar dealership in Santa Monica, leaving the Mercedes parked for just 10 minutes!

In November of 2011, Daimler announced that it intends to axe one of the world’s most potent symbols of wealth—the Maybach. Volkswagen AG (owner of Bentley and Rolls Royce) sees the opportunity to approach some of Maybach’s wealthy clients, including Jay-Z, Samuel L. Jackson, King Juan Carlos, Roman Abramovich and the Sultan of Brunei to perhaps capitalize from the luxury car’s cancellation.

Mercedes is rolling out the next generation of its Mbrace in-vehicle communications system (cloud-based services), Mbrace2, set to ship out in the new SL Class cars in March.

Mbrace2 will incorporate social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Yelp and Google to enhance the overall driving experience…and to compete with the expanding technology in automobiles! Unlike Ford’s amazing MyTouch, however, Mbrace2 will not feature a touch screen. So…if someone were to hijack your Mercedes or Mercedes rental, could they hijack your Facebook account? The heat is on between longtime luxury auto rivals Mercedes-Benz and BMW, with Mercedes overtaking BMW during October U.S. sales. Mercedes enjoyed 22,637 U.S. deliveries last month while BMW only 21,873. BMW, however, maintains the lead for the year at 199,552 total vehicles sold.
