In a case of dumb and dumber, a Pennsylvania man is now on the run after attempting to buy a Maserati with a bad check. Yep, that is correct—not only was Gabriel Mathews of North Wales brave enough to attempt the task, the dealership, Car Connections USA in West Whiteland Township, actually allowed the 22-year-old to take off in the luxury car. Hopefully this saga does not end in an exotic car crash, as many do.

The Maserati Kubang (follow link for more details and a video on the vehicle) has definitely created a bang in the gossip department! Mixed reactions are running rampant about the marquee’s SUV concept that emerged at the Frankfurt Motor Show this year. Top gearhead gripes include the Kubang’s not-so-banging appearance, the idea of a Maserati SUV, the strange name, and the fact that an Italian luxury car is to be built in the U.S. (Michigan). Now it seems that maybe someone in the chain of command has been listening about the name issue!

 I assume the (likely) turbulent relationship between Mel Gibson and his auto insurance company is experiencing further strain by his second crash behind the wheel of a Maserati of his within two years! Yep, Mad Max has ‘Bumped’ the rear end of another vehicle in Phoenix, Arizona recently, making headlines in the exotic car crash tabloids around the world yet again (Hey, it is better press than domestic violence or anti-Semitism!).

Fiat CEO Serigo Marchionne has been toying with the idea of an American made Maserati SUV since last January, and the idea seemed quite far-fetched. Marchionne revealed how serious he is about the idea by unveiling the Maserati Kubang SUV at the Frankfurt Motor Show and announcing plans to build it for 2013 delivery at the assembly plant in Detroit!

It is exciting to imagine an SUV joining our fleet of Maserati rentals in the foreseeable future!
